The Director's Chair:
QandANJ.org YouTube contest

New Jersey high school students are invited to participate in The Director's Chair, a contest in which
students submit commercials to promote QandANJ.org and flaunt their directorial skills. QandANJ.org is a free online service that allows New Jersey residents and students to chat with a librarian 24 hours a day, for help with homework or general questions.

New Jersey students in 9th through 12th grade are invited to submit a 30-second video promoting QandANJ.org to YouTube by April 1, 2008.

Win a JVC digital video camera, a Nintendo Wii, or a Zen V digital audio player!

Visit http://www.qandanj.org/contest for more information about the contest,
including YouTube submission instructions, prizes, official contest rules, release forms and more.

VOYA's Cover Photo Contest for Teens:
TEENS ON THE PLANET READ

"Teen photographers' own creations appear on the front cover of Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA) magazine. On the theme of "Teens on the Planet Read," VOYA wants photographs that express the relationship between teens and the world of reading. Images should portray teens with any type of reading material: books, magazines, comics, computers, their own creative writing, media of any kind-even participating in library programs or other events. Pictures might be taken in teens' bedrooms, libraries, classrooms, or outdoors-anywhere on the Planet Read."

This contest is ongoing! Submit your entries to WTPL and we will sponsor them in VOYA's contest!

Submission Guidelines
  • Standard 4x6-inch or larger color prints are preferred. High-resolution digital photos of at least 300 dpi are accepted if sent as tif or jpg files. Low-resolution digitals cannot be considered.
  • All photos must be marked clearly with the name of the photographer and a suggested photo title or caption. For prints, use a sticky note on the back of the photo. For digitals, place the information in an e-mail.
  • A cover sheet or e-mail must accompany all submissions, containing the your name, age, e-mail, street address, city, state, zip code, and phone number; along with WTPL's contact information:
    Mrs. Elissa Rizzo
    Young Adult Librarian

    37 East Springtown Road
    Long Valley, NJ 07853
    908-876-3596
    wtplteens@gmail.com
  • Drop off prints at WTPL or e-mail digital pictures to Mrs. Rizzo at wtplteens@gmail.com
  • Tips for Winning Photos: Avoid amateur snapshots. Photos must be well composed, well focused, and capable of sharp reproduction when enlarged. Seasonal themes, humor, and unusual poses catch the editor's attention. Award-winning photos from a local library or school photography contest are welcomed.

Teen photographers whose pictures are picked by VOYA to be published will receive a $50 prize and three copies of the magazine.
