Jinx by Meg Cabot

Jinx by Meg Cabot

Summary: A "stalker" drives Jean "Jinx" to her cousin's house in NYC from the country. There she learns that her cousin Tory has changed-she does drugs, drinks, and even thinks she is a witch. Jinx becomes close friends with the guy that Tory likes, so Tory tries to use her "powers" to scare Jinx off. However, this does not work because Jinx (the actual witch) puts a binding spell on Tory. This leads to severe jealousy, during which Tory tries to embarass Jinx and make her not fit in. Eventually Jean learns to embrace her magic, leading to a happy ending.

Genre: fantasy

Rank: 4/5

Would you recommend this book to a friend? yes

Review: Jinx is an interesting story full of regular teen things as well as magic. That fact makes this a diverse book. Usually, for an interesting plot, there is good and evil. In Jinx, the evil character turns good, but only temporarily. Meg Cabot makes this book fun to read by leading you in one direction and then spinning you in another.

My review of this book: This book was really short which I didn't like. It was only 50 pages! It also didn't explain it very well but I guess that makes sense because these are Mia's entries and she was tires from working. Besides that, though, it was very interesting and I liked the point of the story with how she's going to help people. The ending was also cute.

My review of this book: I really liked this book. It was funny seeing everything through her eyes. You would think that because she's a princess she would be popular; but that doesn't apply to her. In the end youreally want her to end up with Michael, and she does, but there are a few suprises in it. Even though it's not like the movies, it was worth reading.
